YUMMY!!!: Wine + Cheese
During my trip to Chile, I had the chance to go to Concha y Toro Winery in Santiago and had a blast there!!!
The place is amazing, and you can take 3 types of tour. I took the tour with wine and cheese tasting at the end. You go around the property, see the beautiful scenery of the valley and the grapevines and even you get into the cavern of the devil, their famous Casillero del Diablo brand and have a little explanation about its history with videos and sound, a very interesting show!!!
So what I want to share with you today is the combination of wine and cheese I learned there.
We tasted 4 types of wine: Merlot, Carmenère (my fave), Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Nós degustamos 4 tipos de vinho: Merlot, Carmenère (meu favorito), Syrah e Cabernet Sauvigon.
This is the rank from the strongest to the mildest:
I actually like Syrah the most, but from this winery, I ended up preferring the Carmenère.
So when choosing the cheese to serve with the wines, you have to choose an opposite cheese, that is, the stronger the wine, the lighter the cheese and vice versa.
For Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot you can serve brie, camembert, ricotta, mozzarella, and so.
And for Syrah and Carmenere you can serve goat cheese, gorgonzola, gruyere, gouda, edam, parmesan, etc.
The wine and cheese tasting tour costs US$ 36 and takes about 1 and a half hour, and you have to schedule to be able to take the tour.
