Hmmmm.... if there's something I love it's PIZZA!!! So me and my sis were wandering around São Paulo last week and came across this pizzeria I was longing to go: Maremonti!!! It's another pick from Veja São Paulo as the best pizzeria in town!!!
The environment is amazing, wrapped in plants outside and inside as well, and cute antique furniture with Italian sayings all over!!! Super cozy and cute!!!
Super aconchegante e fofo!!!
It's a two-story house in which they designed open walls upstairs, so you can see the whole place, including the brick oven and the pizzamen doing his job! The service is the best!!! Everything arrived so fast and the waiters were so thoughtful, top-notch!!!
The pizzas are served in two sizes, small (4 pieces) and large (8 pieces). We ordered a small one and we always ask for double toppings. I was super into trying the special pizza they made due to this award: Di Collina which is made of burrata (a type of mozzarella), Genovese pesto and special cherry tomatoes from the "collina" of Monti Lattari. However, the waiter was very kind to warn us that, if we wanted to try 2 flavors, Di Collina was not a good option to be one half because the water from the burrata could harm the other flavor.
So we ordered half Capannone, which is tomato sauce, cheese, zucchini, leek and Parmesan cheese on top, and half Parma, which is tomato sauce, cheese, Parma ham and Parmesan cheese... both a delight!!!
Whenever you are in São Paulo - Alphaville or Jardins, or Riviera, stop by this incredible pizza place and enjoy the best pizza of São Paulo!!!

YUMMY!!!: Pizza Day in São Paulo
Today is Pizza Day in São Paulo!!! So, let's understand its history according to this website.
If there is a dish which is nearly a national unanimity of acceptance is the pizza. And everytime we talk about it, Italians come to our mind. But they were not those who invented this delight, nor it came up with the characteristics we know: thin dough, tomato sauce, melted cheese, topping and a sprinkle of oregano on top.
Next, more creative bakers started innovating and added other ingredients in the pizza, such as garlic, anchovies and fish of the region.
Naples fame was spread all over the world and, so, the first pizzeria came up: Port'Alba. It was a great gathering place of artists from that time. Among them, Alexandre Dumas, who even mentioned in one of his works some variables of the pizza. For a long time, it was sold in bakeries and street stands and consumed for breakfast. From Naples to the rest of the world was "a hop", because the immigrants took it to several countries and made it popular.
It arrived in the USA, as well as in Brazil, by means of Italian immigrants. For a long time, we could only find pizzerias in Italian redoubts and colonies. Today, this famous delight is anywhere in the cities.
The Pizza Day has been celebrated on July 10 since 1985 in São Paulo. The date was instituted by the tourism secretary at that time, Caio Luís de Carvalho, by a state contest which would elect the top 10 recipes of mozzarella and margherita pizza. Excited with the success of the event, he chose the date of its closing, July 10, as the official date to celebrate the round dish.

History says that the first pizza appeared over 6 thousand years ago and was only a thin layer of dough known as "Abraham bread", which the Hebrews and Egyptians used to consume. It looked like our current pita bread and was also called "piscea", there comes the name pizza.
Italians, thousands of years later, incremented pizza with tomato, and it was consumed folded in half as a sandwich. Its propagation took place during the second half of the XIX century, in 1889, with Dom Raffaele Espósito, a Napolitan baker who served King Umberto I and Queen Margherita and, to please and innovate the menu, he decided to add mozzarella, tomato and basil to the dough, ingredients which reproduced the colors of the Italian flag. And, in tribute to the Queen, he baptized his recipe with the name of Margherita pizza.
