EXPRESSION OF THE DAY: What's Catchball???

Yesterday, a student of mine asked a question: What's the meaning of CATCHBALL??? He said that during a meeting in English, people were saying this all the time.

Ontem, um aluno meu fez uma pergunta: Qual é o significado de CATCHBALL??? Ele disse que durante a reunião em inglês, as pessoas estavam dizendo isso o tempo todo.


This word is related to sports, especially Baseball, in which a person catches the ball that is thrown. But in a figurative scenario, looking for a better definition in the business word I found in the Business Dictionary a great explanation:
Essa palavra está relacionada com esportes, especialmente Beisebol, em que a pessoa pega a bola que é jogada. Mas em um cenário figurado, procurando melhor por uma definição no mundo dos negócios, encontrei uma ótima explicação no Business Dictionary:

"Participative approach to decision-making in which information and ideas are thrown and caught back and forth, up and down throughout the organization."
"Abordagem participativa na tomada de decisões em que as informações e ideias são lançadas e pegas para frente e para trás, para cima e para baixo, por toda a organização".

So using a CATCHBALL in your meetings or simply within the company allows people to share their ideas, thoughts, expectations regarding processes and improvements in a project or anything else related to the company.

Assim, usar CATCHBALL em suas reuniões ou simplesmente dentro da empresa permite que as pessoas compartilhem ideias, pensamentos, expectativas em relação aos processos e melhorias de um projeto ou qualquer coisa relacionada com a empresa.
